NEW YORK INVASIVES – Spring 2021

Dear Neighbors,

The week of June 7-11, 2021 was New York’s 8th annual Invasive Species Awareness Week (ISAW). The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) tracks many different invasive species across the state, but rely on us to help find and stop invasives. They need our help to locate invasives so the NYSDEC can get to them soon enough for management to be an option. The earlier an infestation is found, the greater the chances to eradicate, contain, or at least slow it down, which buys valuable time to develop better control methods and prepare for its arrival.
