HEMLOCK INFESTATION
The Otisco Lake Watershed continues to search out Hemlock‘s infected with the HWA (Hemlock Woolly Adelgid) insect. The HWA can be seen in Hemlocks, January through April. Training was offered in February by the FL- Prism in conjunction with Cornell Cooperative at Highland Forest, while others attended the training at Baltimore Woods. We were educated on how to find these HWA. In March and April, we will visit different properties that have been identified to have Hemlocks. We will be looking for volunteers interested in learning more about the process. We have a list of near 200 properties in Otisco with Hemlocks. Please contact Margie Creamer via text at 315-481-5048 or by email at margiecreamer@gmail.com for direction on identifying HWA or for more information.
